next tour January 5, 2026! 〰️
You’re here because…You know there’s a difference between reading about a place and being guided by someone who has actually lived there.
And you’re craving the second one.
You’ve seen photos and videos of Africa, but you’ve never had someone walk you through what life actually feels like behind those images
✨
You’re not looking for the “visitor’s version”. You want the everyday rhythms, peeking into kitchens, classrooms, and conversations. The things that only lived experience can show.
✨
You want to feel prepared for the places you visit, not just with logistics, but with a sense of the people, the culture, and the stories.
✨
Or maybe you simply want to understand a world that’s different from your own. Guided by someone who’s spent more than 16 years living inside it.
✨
And if that sounds like you,
you’re not alone.
So many people feel the same pull, the same curiosity,
the same hunger to understand.
You just haven’t had the doorway… until now.
Maybe you think you need a plane ticket to see the real thing (you don’t)
Maybe you think virtual means detached or distant (it doesn’t)
Or maybe you’re just one immersive tour away from feeling connected to West Africa.
No passport required.
Discover Benin
is for you ifYou want a real understanding of West Africa instead of stereotypes…
You love learning through stories and human connection…
You are preparing to visit one day, or you simply want to start seeing the world with a wider lens…
You want a meaningful experience without needing to travel.
This isn’t a travel vlog
It’s not a documentary…
And it’s definitely not another
“top 10 things to do in Africa” list.
It’s a guided, story-driven experience designed to help you see the real rhythm of daily life in Benin.
The cooking. The history.
The learning. The joy.
The normal, extraordinary everyday.
You’ll walk away with
A grounded sense of what everyday life in Benin really feels like.
The language and awareness to talk about African cultures with care and context.
A refreshed worldview that shifts how you travel…and how you show up in your own community.
And maybe the moment you finally say, “Yes. I’m ready to go.”
Hi, I’m DebraAnd I’m here to tell you: you don’t need a plane ticket to see the world differently.
I’m a Beninese American who’s lived and worked in Benin for over 15 years, but I still remember what it felt like not to even know the country existed.
I first arrived in Benin through Peace Corps and expected to stay two years. Instead, I found a home, a family, and a community that continues to shape me every day.
But I was not always someone who understood this place.
I was once the outsider who did not know the country existed.
I arrived with assumptions. I thought I was coming to teach, not to be changed.
Benin transformed me through people, stories, humor, humility, and daily life.
And now I have created a way to share that kind of shift with others. Not through lectures. Through lived experience.
And when I’m not filming lessons or unpacking research (I just wrapped my EdD), you can find me running after my boys, reading, or hunting down a good chocolate croissant.
Yes, even in Benin. (It was once a French colony, after all.)
How it works and what you’ll explore…
WHAT IS IT?
This is a 14-day story-driven sprint through Benin, a chance to learn, watch, and reflect at your own pace with absolutely zero jet lag.
YOU’LL GET…
10–15 minute videos, reflection prompts, and two live Zoom calls to unpack what you’ve noticed and ask questions.
PLUS…
You’ll join our private community where I’ll be right there with you, sharing resources, answering questions, and helping you reflect along the way.
In 14 days you’ll explore…-
How Benin fits into West Africa, and why its story matters.
-
Kitchens, markets, and meals that bring people together
-
School and village education, apprenticeships, and career paths.
-
Where Vodun, modern life, and faith intersect.
-
The rhythm and resilience that keep it all moving
And yes, I’ll be there every day with you.
Guiding, listening, and helping you make sense of what you see.
Whether you’re planning a trip, exploring from home, or discovering a connection to Benin for the first time.
It felt like we were walking around a neighborhood, and you were pointing out things and introducing us as we walked.
The content echoes with you for a while, and it made me notice my own assumptions.
This made me rethink what I thought I knew.
…the tour was well thought out and well explained with everything,
and it left me wanting more.
Picture this…You log off one evening and realize your idea of a
“developing country” has shifted.
You start catching your own assumptions mid-thought.
You hear a story about Benin (or Africa), and it feels familiar, human, not foreign.
That’s the quiet power of this tour.
It changes HOW you SEE
