A New Puppy
Lil’ Feller sleeping in the yard.
This past Friday we added a little puppy to our family! I wish that you could have all seen Aden with the puppy on the way home. Aden is not one who is so keen on dogs, especially big ones since he did not grow up around them. I was not quite sure how he would react to a puppy but figured it would be okay since puppies are small.
When we got in the car to go home, Aden immediately wanted to hold the puppy. So we found the puppy hiding in the very back and gave him to Aden. Right away Aden started talking to the puppy, telling him, “It’s okay little fella, it’s okay little guy.” I could not believe it! It was one of the cutest moments that I have seen in a long time. He and the puppy fell asleep on the way home, with Aden having one hand on the puppy’s back. So wonderful.
The puppy is white with a large brown/black splotch on his back, and I would guess between 6-8 weeks old. He is a Beninese breed, of which there is a name, but I could not tell you it off the top of my head.
Aden was going to think about what we are going to name the puppy, and when Aden wakes up we are going to give the puppy a bath and figure out where to get vaccinations.
A name has been chosen: Lil’ Feller (Aden has a habit of adding “er” to the end of words.)
Quite honestly I am very happy to have a puppy in the house. It has been a long time since I really have had animals in the house - mainly because the places we have lived have not allowed pets. Looking forward to watching Aden and Lil’ Fella grow up!
