A Quiet Monday

My writing space this morning. Absolutely wonderful!

My writing space this morning. Absolutely wonderful!

Today is Monday, but it sure feels like a Sunday to me. It is a fresh and cloudy morning, a welcome change to the hot and somewhat humid day we had yesterday. The boys were awake at 6:30 am, and we crawled out of bed and played in our room for a bit. Coming out to the living room we brushed our teeth and put water on to boil (for coffee of course!).

Aden and I both have a cold, runny nose and sore throat - so I was really hoping for a Sunday kind of day. I had a happy surprise when more internet credit arrived on my phone, along with a message and then a phone call with my sister! I usually talk to people in the US in the evening here, but thanks to the time change I have the option of early morning calls as wells. So very awesome!

Little Benjamin was ready to get going for the day, which is the norm as of late. He started walking this past week and just cannot get over how much fun it is! He usually has a soccer ball close by to him - which would not surprise people that know D’Aquin. Soccer is undoubtedly is this boy’s blood! He will even stand and push the ball with his feet. It is absolutely amazing to me how they can go from crawling to walking in such a short period of time. Climbing on furniture is also in his repertoire now. Thankfully he also knows how to get down (most of the time!).

Per the usual in Benin, our house can go from just home to a meeting location in a matter of minutes. This happened to be one of those mornings. Within ten minutes of each other, two people arrived to meet and discuss issues with D’Aquin. Quite honestly, you never know who is going to be in your living room when you wake up in the morning!

Benjamin went down for his morning nap, and while squeezing in a little Instagram time, I realized that I mixed up my days and completely missed Veteran’s Day. For the last 18 years, I have called my parents, no matter where I am, and thanked them for their service. So, I will post it here and then call them today, the 12th, and tell them what was meant for yesterday. Thank you both so much for your service to the US. I am incredibly grateful to have parents (and other relatives) that risked their lives for the freedoms that we are able to enjoy.

As I close out this post, it is 10:30 am, and the sun is starting to peek through the clouds. I certainly have enjoyed the quiet morning! Oh, and look forward to more posts coming soon!
